November 28, 2012, (Fargo, North Dakota) – SK Food International, Fargo, North Dakota celebrates more than 22 years of success as a Premium Quality supplier of Identity Preserved Non-GMO and Certified Organic ingredients.

 

In 1990 David and Beverly Skyberg started SK Food International, Inc., an import/export trading company and bulk domestic ingredient supplier of certified organic and IP (identity preserved) Non-GMO (non-genetically modified organisms) food and feed products.

 

SK Food's product mix has grown substantially over the years. Originally, the company primarily sold soybeans, dry edible beans, cereal grains, sunflower seed and flaxseed for export. Due to industry growth and customer demand, SK Food's current product list has expanded to include further-processed ingredients such as meals, flours, vegetable oils and precooked powders and flakes.

 

Over the past two decades, SK Food has positioned itself as an ‘ingredient solutions provider,' responding to customers' needs with assistance in research and new product development for new ingredients and product applications. David Skyberg, SK Food president comments, “we're not just supplying agricultural commodities, we are working together with our customers and their step-by-step processes to be that full-service food ingredient supplier.”

 

As a contract producer and licensed and bonded grain buyer, SK Food works with more than 2000 farmers throughout North America, largely in the Midwest, for the production of its specialized commodities and ingredients. The company also works directly with larger farmers and suppliers in Europe, South America, Asia, India and Australia. This allows SK Food to diversify production and minimize risks that may come with crop failure in any one region.

Skyberg notes SK Food's involvement and support in industry associations through memberships and serving on association boards has also played an integral role in furthering its reputation in the industry which, in turn, has enabled it to grow as a Best Value ingredient supplier.

 

Through SK Food's wholly-owned subsidiary, SK Food Specialty Processing, located in Moorhead, Minnesota, SK Food has experienced increased growth and opportunity. As a result, SK Food Specialty Processing has recently undergone equipment and warehouse expansions. The grain processing and cleaning facility added 12,000 square feet of warehouse space for a total of 28,000 square feet of storage to accommodate 110 semi-truck loads of bagged product. The plant also installed additional processing equipment and systems to include a belt sorter and pre-clean aspiration system.

 

SK Food International supplies a full line of Premium Quality Ingredients including Identity Preserved: Non-GMO and Certified Organic dry edible beans, grains, seeds, soybeans, peas and lentils, meals/flours, vegetable oils and precooked powders/flakes to industries including food, pet food, nutraceutical and personal care.
